Linux Webcam Software

A recent "Ask Slashdot" talks about how to setup a webcam under linux.
Some of the programs discussed include linux based motion detection software (Motion), softweare to detect and configure your webcam under linux (ubuntu), and camsource to grab images from a v4l device.

Using an old video camera with Yahoo

I recommend the PVR series video capture cards (150, 250, or 350) from Hauppauge to use older video cameras along with Yahoo and MSN. I have used many brands of video capture cards over the years and have found the PVR series from Hauppauge to be the best analog card for the money on the market. Using an analog camera along with one of those cards will result in video nearly as good as a digital connection using firewire and the PVR series cards are direclty recoginized by yahoo as webcam devices.
